"This picture is the Sutter Buttes in California, taken on my way to work in Yuba City. The "Buttes" are the home of much wild life, as well as celebrated duck clubs and almond orchards. "This picture is very representative of my decision to travel. I left my comfort
zone at home in Cincinnati and decided to travel all the way to Southern CA on my
first assignment. I feel the single purple flower represents me rising above all
reservations to make the leap. I couldn't’t be happier with my decision. I'm still
in southern CA and I'm even considering making it my permanent home one day".

The picture was taken at Matapang Beach in Guam at sunset. "We were just sitting
on the beach watching the amazing COLORS of the sunset. My camera is just a Sony
Cybershot and I took the picture in color. However it showed on my camera in black
and white. I thought it would be a good picture to turn into the contest, but never
dreamed it would win. I did blow a copy up to 8x10 and when you look very closely
at it you can see faint blue tips to the water. Just amazing and beautiful"
